I need some help. I drive a 1988 bronco II 2.9 L V6. It has 95,000 miles on it. Lately it starts up really crappy and seems to eat alot of gas. When i put the key in and turn the engine over, it will turn a little while before it fires right up. Then when it fires up it idles real rough ( sounds like a 302 with larger lifters, ya know the rumble) then it smoothes out and stays that way. The timing is correct on it. Just recently i replaced the spark plugs. What could be my problem anybody know? I really need help b ecause it seems like everytime i turn my car on my gas diminishes. I really need help and would appreciate any help greatly. Thanks Will.

If I were you I'd start with the EGR valve and the oxygen sensor, then might be a plugged PVC valve. You could also have a vacuum leak. if those aren't it try a clogged fuel filter or maybe a fuel pump going out. Are you sure your injectors are clean. Those off hand are what I would look into. Hope this leads you to your problem. If not, sorry.

My 88 has had a lot of problems with sensors - most can be found with an inexpensive computer diagnostic tool ($30.00 or so). The most troublesome component was the MAP sensor which never showed as a problem on the computer. It caused an intermittant rough run condition after warmup.
