Good Day Guys..

Just wondered if any Intrigue owners have started hearing their lifters get louder with age/miles??
Has anyone even attempted to fix the issue and how so with these DOHC 3.5's.

Cheers

What you may be hearing could be the long chains that drive the four camshafts . They are suppose to be good for the life of the engine . As long as the engine is running normally , I wouldn't worry about it .But you could have someone check it if it would ease your mind . Good luck !

I had the same issue with my 02 GX. Some common contributors can be very simple...

-low test gas can sometimes provide an "ignition ping". You can try higher test gas (if using low test), or try an additive (eg...STP Octane Boost)

-what I did, was an oil change...and with that oil change, I used an additive for freeing sticky lifters. (I used a can of "Wynn's Valve and Lifter Treatment").
Another option here is to use some transmission fluid...when your car is down about half a litre of oil...use half a litre of transmission fluid instead. It will free up any gunk built up on the valves or lifters and help quiet them down. Just do your regular oil change earlier than expecting.

Anyway, none of those options are a permanent fix, but they should help without doing any damage to your motor.

a good synthetic like Mobile 1 or Amsoil will cure your lifter rattle, but I wonder if you engine has piston slap.
