I have a 2000 Eddie Bauer w/ the 5.0 V-8 that seems to be running sluggish. I owned a 1997 XLT w/ the 4.0 V-6, and it seems to have had way more umph! than the V-8. Now the 97' had only 68k miles on it while the 00' has 163k miles on it. Would a good tune up do the trick? Or does the V-6 from the XLT's just have more torque availiable?

I suspect a tune up would be a wise place to start. My brother had a '97 Explorer with the 4.0L SOHC and I have a 2000 Mountaineer with the V-8. His V-6 ran impressively strong, but was still noticably weaker than my Mountaineer.
A tune up consisting of plugs, wires, fuel filter, and a cylinder/intake de-carb would be a good place to start. Don't forget to add a bottle of fuel injector cleaner to the fuel tank as well.

Thank you shorod. Just wanted to make sure I was spending the gas money on the two extra cylinders for nothing.
