Hi there, I am new to the forum but I have to admit I have been a lurker for a while. I decided to join because I feel like I know my Bravada from inside out... only to find out that Bravadas are the most surprising vehicles in the world.:banghead: I have some questions but also think I can share form some of my experiances.
My recent/not so recent problem:
A little history - I have been fighting a noise/vibration problem on my 97 Bravada for.... well a long time. First I noticed a vibration which imediatly made me suspicious of the u-joints (squeeking when backing up). I discover that the u-joints in my front drive/prop shaft where dry and rusty, changed the shaft as well as the rear joints, smooth as silk. Jump forward a few months and I have a vibration problem, 2 new wheel brgs, again smooth. Back again, then idler arm, sway bar links, shocks, and converter (not related but pain in the rear and noisey). Everything is great.... and then a popping/bang-bang-bang sound begins when I accelerate, but only on acceleration, when I let off the gas it goes away and seems to be quiet on the highway. First thing that jumps into my mind is CV axels but so far I have seen someone say ther upper ball joints caused the noise but this doesn't sound like a ball joint, I can't imagine that no one has experianced this with their Bravie. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome to the site BS,
Do you feel it in the steering wheel, seat and/or floor?

Hey Chris, I can mainly feel the noise in the floor and the pedals. It feels very similar to the noise/vibration coming from the prop/drive shaft but more of a bang-bang-bang, as I said it has been replaced and I couldn't imagine that it was already defective.

What do you think about a transfercase chain/sprocket slipping? A stick magnet through the lube fill hole might show something....the more metal filings, the more trouble.
