Will a 1g tranny fit in a 2g?

I'm almost positive that a 1g and 2g tranny is the same. We just aquired a 96 GST with a busted tranny, and we found a nice 1g tranny, and I just wanted to make sure it would work before we bought it. Thanks.

i'm pretty sure they are not.
If you look at any of the online vendors 90-94 are separate from 95-99.

Thanks alot. I know a mexican that has a wrecked 2g, so I'll hit him up for the tranny.

The difference in the 1g and 2g is in the mounts... on 1g's there is one mount on the tranny and three on the motor, its the opposite on the 2g. Because of this you can use a 2g tranny in a 1g, but not the other way around.

Thanks for the help. We found the right trans and we'll probably buy it this week. Now we just have to figure out what clutch we want. I have the fidanza 3.2 in the Spyder....thinking about trying the Centerforce Dual friction in this car....or maybe a Clutch Masters....or possibly an Exedy organic clutch, man decisions, decisions.
