Lane Exact Detail replica comments

The hottest trend with 1:18th scale diecast models seems to be properly opening doors and in some cases properly opening hoods.

A diecast company that I'm very fond of hasn't followed suit just yet, and I can't figure out why. I'm really a big fan of Lane Exact Detail replicas, but I wonder why they haven't incorporated this detail. It really adds a "real" feel to a diecast. Autoart has perfected the properly opening doors. Ertl has done the same as well as adding real hood hinges in their Precision line. Both of these product lines run about half the price of Exact Detail, so it can't be that it adds too much to the price of the diecast. Maisto has also done this on their '65 Vette and it looks great. Well worth the $16 I paid for the few that I've purchased of that diecast.

I will continue to purchase Exact Detail replicas because of the cars they've chosen to produce as well as the attention to detail, but they should seriously to consider putting the doors on real hinges. It is a great detail that adds to any diecast.

I just think that paying in the $80-$100 range for an Exact Detail diecast at least demands having real door hinges. Anyone else have an opinion on any of this.

Keep in mind that the molds to make GT-350s, Camaros, and Olds were created awhile ago. Still, there is no excuse why Lane can't update their molds to include more realistic style door hinges.

Currently, I have 12 Lane's creations in my collection. I remember I was amazed by the amount of details incorporated into my very first model by Lane. Nowadays, all of Lane's products I have looks a bit outdated. At the same time, Lane Collectibles keeps raise the prices...

As for realistic door hinges on Lane, you can find them on the latest Firebird 400. I am sure their next creation (Chevelle) will have realistic door hinges as well.

Most of Lane's creations today cost in and around 100 dollars each. Other than their models are unique + limited in production, I can't see how their models can fetch that much money. Still, I will continue to add some of their models into my collection. After all, where else can I get a decent Firebird 400 or Olds 4-4-2?
