Hi guys, first off let me say that this forum has helped me greatly in the recent past. Lets see if can happen again. I have a 98 blazer 4.3L 4wd. I have 2 problems right now first is with my airbag and the second in going to be in a separate post. I just recently got my truck back in running condition after 2 years in the impound, but now I have a airbag light that flashes 7 times then steady. Based on the research on this forum I know what that means. I took the steering column apart after pulling the SIR fuse and battery cables.
Right away I could see the problem. There is two wires going to the clock spring, one a ,green one, broke at the connector no chance of repair. The other one isn't looking too good either(a white wire).
How hard is it to change the clockspring? And what are some safety issues if I just leave it alone?

If the sir light is on your air bag system is shut down and air bag will not work in case of a accident.
Treat air bags just like a loaded shot gun.
They can save your life or take it in a split second.
The clock spring replacement procedure and safety cautions on repair can be found in a All Data online subscription.

Take care out there and good luck.
