00' Cougar...where to start!

I've been driving my Cougar for about two years, i love it....but its one thing after another!
At one point it wouldn't crank, some days it would some days it wouldn't. I had to actually get it towed out of my own yard...
When its raining, the steering wheel is REALLY hard to turn.
Around Inspection time every year, the check engine light comes on! I replace my battery 1-2 times a year, I've never had to buy as many sets of tires for any car but this one!
NOW...the a/c won't come on. The AIR works, but the fan switch won't work. Its 95 degree weather and I have a 7 month old and NO AIR CONDITION. :shakehead Some days I'll turn it and the fan works, most days it won't. If anyone has any ideas of what I can do to get my fan to work, w/o spending a fortune, that would be great!:)

Try removing the fan switch and clean it good with electrical cleaner. You can buy another one from a junk yard. Make sure its getting power to it before buying a used one from a scrap yard.
