Need Help Finding JPS Mustang References.

Howdy from Texas:

Does anyone know where I can get references for the JPS Mustang? This is the Roush car driven by Robert Lappalainen in 1990. I'm doing the Revell kit of this car.

References for similar racecars would be a big help. Even some engine shots of NASCAR's from the era would help as they used similar Ford engines. I think the chassis is a Riley & Scott, but am not sure.

Resins, details sets, and decals would also be a big help.

Thanks in advance.

I'm not aware of any resins for the 1990 model specifically. The Revell/Mongram kit is a great starting point, but needs a little work here and there.
I've never seen any aftermarket decals for the JPS car either. I have not seen the JPS decals explicitly, but in pictures, it looks like the gold is "off".
You can find some good ref pics here:

Use "mwphotota" as the username and no password. That should work fine.

Thanks Erick.

Indeed the JPS Mustang is finished in black and yellow and not black and gold as one would expect. This has caused confusion among modelers.

The kit supplied decals are a bright neon yellow but unforturnately the black bleeds through underneath them. I plan to make a new decal set, but, incorrectly, will make them gold instead of yellow. I think that it will look better this way even if it's not accurate.

I got those pics from Paul Fix and from my old friend Warren

Quote from Paul Fix (ex-owner)
Robert drove the JPS car 2 seasons. In 1989 he drove chassis # 009,
nicknamed "christine" when Scott Pruett drove it in 1986-87. Robert
drove chassis #018 in the 1990 season. The way to tell the difference
is chassis #009 had exhaust out both sides and #018 had both out the
right side. The Revell model box cover is a picture of chassis #018.
The photos are form last year, Unfortunately we decaled the car
before we found out they were supposed to be yellow not gold.

I'd love to find an aftermarket set of decals also....it's keeping me from building mine.
