I have a 4 cylinder (2.4) and sometimes when I press the brake down the car will chug like it wants to stall out. I'm also having problems when I'm driving the car will get a dead gas pedal feeling (RPM's will drop down) and take back off again. Sometimes the car won't even start. I towed it home last time when it wouldn't start and soon as I got it home it started right up. I've changed the fuel filter and fuel pump and it still doing the same thing. No check engine light is on. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I had a similar problem with my 96 GT (2.4/with a manual tranny) It started with the coil packs (easy to change) and finally lead to a bad ignition module. The first time I had the coil packs replaced it was done at a garage and was expensive, about $250.00 parts and labor . After that I had to change the other pack and did it myself for less than $50.00, The car would run good for a while then start acting up again, finally the Ignition module went, once replaced all the problems went away.

I hope that this helps.
