Hi, I have a 1991 Lebaron Conv. with a blown 3.0 automatic. My nieghbor has a 2001 Sebring Lxi Sedan with the 2.7 and autostick. The Sebring has bad front and rear suspensions and brakes. He is offering me the car for parts before junking it. With the eng/trans swap into my Lebaron with out having to buy or build a palithera of parts? I would have the whole car for a donor and could get anything I need off of the Sebring. I am sure I am looking at any and all mounts, wiring harness, shifter, computer, LOTS of photos of the wiring before disassembly, exahust manifold,...more? I already have a 3.0 from a 90's Voyager sitting in the garage if the 2.7/autostick is too expensive or just won't work. The Lebaron has been down for the last 4 years so time frame is not an issue. It also has bad CV joints so I am replacing axles either way I go. Main atraction is the 60 extra horses and autostick. Thanks for any input.

Are you crazy? You want to put a sebring powertrain into a lebaron? The platforms are far too different, this is a job for a chop shop, not even regular mechanics would mess with that. And the 2.7 L sucks. Especially the with its oil sludge/burning problems. Not to mention reliability. Technically speaking, if you just put a regular 3.0L in your Baron, you could possibly rig the autostick to work. As they are about the same transmission. It would require lots of custom wiring, you'd have to use the transmission computer from the autostick car, AND you'd have to customize your interior to fit the autostick's stick. Though, it has been done before.

You are looking at far more than the car is worth if you can even find someone that will do it. If you want to save the car drop another 3.0L in it or junk it. If you really want a decent engine and don't mind the time go with the 2.2L or 2.5L, hell that might not be much of a problem as I'm not sure if the mounting points. However, those engine were designed to go in that car. Next would be a 2.4L, though that would be a real nightmare to get in as well.
