FREAKY HUH! :screwy: SO ONE OF OUR BEST FRIENDS OWNS HIS OWN SHOP AND SO HE FIGURED IT WAS THE STARTER, BECAUSE IT WAS STARTING TO STICK. THOUGHT IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN THE RELA , BUT ITS NOT... SO WE TOWED IT TO HIS SHOP AND CHANGED OUT THE STARTER/CYLANOID <--THEY ARE ATTACHED. EVERYTHING WAS GREAT IT DROVE GREAT LAST NIGHT. MY HUSBAND WENT OUT TO GO AND GET COFFEE AND CHRISTINE WAS ALIVE AGAIN. THE CAR WAS IN FRONT OF HIS TRUCK AND NOW I HAVE A DENT IN MY WHEEL WELL. Take a voltmeter and check the battery voltage. Have somebody check the voltage when trying to start. It should still be around 12 volt. Check if the small wire feeding power to the relay is getting power. I would start at the ignition switch and make sure its working if you don't get power on the small wire to the relay. This is on the column about 1/2 way down.

A similiar thing happened to a friend of mine with a 2000 SVT. We were out crusing around one night and we revved at a GTO and all of the sudden while the car is running, the starter just starts cranking. We immediately shut off the car and the starter just keeps going. Within a couple of minutes the battery was completely drained. We initially thought the starter was bad so we replaced it. Didn't fix it. Turns out the main harness that connects the starter to the battery had cracked/chaffed and was shorting to the frame of the car. I think the harness was about $100 from the dealership.
