Watching the corn fields pass by w/the cruise control set to 80 I happen to pass a Honda. I'm not too familiar with Hondas all I can say was it was a coupe, from the rear he was debadged and had a nice exhaust (not coffee canned), as I pass I take notice of the vibrating body kit, looking in my rearview I see an H on the grill and a large intercooler.

As I go by he decided to increase his speed and match mine. Testing to see if he was willing to go faster I upped my cruise to 100 and he follows right along. Familiar with this lonely stretch of road I know that around the next bend is a nice 2 mile straight just before my exit.

I slow to see what the Honda will do, he pulls up along side and gives me a head bob, or tilt, or whatever, I couldn't tell.... anyway I roll down my window.

"Is that car fast" he yells as his buddy moves his head back.
"no, its just a daily driver" I yell back
"wanna run em" he smiles
"sure why not"
"ok dude, on three alright"
"sure,... you count it off when your ready"

his partner holds up his hand and counts with his fingers, I hear the "phish" of his turbo and he gets to hear the whine of the supercharger.

I let him catch back up to give him a thumbs up.
He points at is boost gage and informs me he only is pushing 5lb of boost and asks how much I have. Told him 15.

I saw my exit I waved and said "maybe next time", he laughed and gave me a thumbs up......

Are those distances exact? :icon16:

Nice kill man. Next time you run into him find out what he's done. It's rare to find a Honda owner that has done tasteful and useful mods and ends with a respectably fast car.

lol........... as exact as I can remember anyway

I know there is some fast hondas out there but this wasn't one of em. I'm slow and I put a few cars on him. I could tell that he didn't pay attention to detail. While his body kit matched the color of the car and it was fitted fairly well I could see gaps between the kit and the car. I guess he didn't get it tuned either when he added the exhaust, turbo, and FMIC. If I were to guess it was probably a 15-16 sec car and I'm just a 14 sec car.

He is going in the right direction with the mods though, it was nice to see a Honda without a giant loud obnoxios cannon and multi-colored body kit.

Yeah, he's way ahead of the people out here. Just about every Honda is pure rice.

I beleive he already has stage 2

Nice kill! I had a run in with turbo civic a few months back and wasn't impressed at all...the second one I ran into was a different story...

This really makes me wanna find out what's causing my misfire so I can get some races again

Thats right I forgot I just added a picture and deleted the mod list in the process. Well as far as mod list,

Stage 2/ with stage 3 pulley
Replaced Airbox filter with a coned filter, some day I'll get a real CAI
Alcohol Injection System Kit
and my favorite mod... My personal tune w/ HPTuners.

My best 1/4 mile time is a 13.88 which I ran this past weekend in full street trim. Now I'm really starting to think about a full exhaust system...

I am going to invest in HP tuners so I can tweak it myself. It would just be something I would get a kick out of.

You know when you pull up to someone who runs their car with a laptop, you are in for one hell of a run.

Or that I should make sure I have a tool kit just incase they blow the wields on the manifold.

lol..... its a pain in the ass and frustrating at times but it is fun to do. Don't forget the wideband, gonna need that for WOT tuning. Getting the pro edition will make a lot easier to make adjustments because you can hook the widband directly to HPT and have all the information on one log.

Hope you know someone who can tune and show you some tricks. Most people will tell you the basics but getting anything more than that is tough, nobody really wants to share their secrets upfront. It takes some prodding and asking specific questions.

Good kill man, my wife used to abuse on the hondas when she first got her car too. They get boring after a while.

Ive had alot of trouble getting the Stage 2 put on our Redline cause of the outrageous cost the dealers around here are asking for.

I got some money saved up though, I might just go ahead and pay them the 1200.00 they keep asking for and get it over with.

can you program the Stage 2 ECU with HPTunners. I think someone had said only the stock ECU us programable.

Nice kill! My neighbor is a mechanic. He's creating a civic sleeper right now so when he comes up on you....

No really nice kill. I cant wait to do a few races with my own car.

Musashi, they just reflash the stock ECU and I don't believe they lock it. I have a ZZP tune and it is unlocked so you can tweak it...its not distinguishable by the dealer that its not the stock ECU so I would imagine if mine is unlocked then they all are

With the upmost respect, find whoever told you that, and kick them hard, in the balls. Anyone who thinks a dealership of any manufacturer can't read or spot a flash is sorely mistaken.

What I meant was that they cant tell that its not the GM stage 2 tune. They know its not the stock tune, but they dont know that it is not the GM flash as it is almost identical and I suppose if they wanted to go indepth they probably could tell. I brought mine to the dealer yesterday and not a word was said about my ZZP flash

The first mod I did was the stage 2 as soon as it became availiable back in 05. It wasn't till this year that I bought HPTuners. When downloading the PCM program with HPT it will ask if you want to unlock it or not. I think I read somewhere that HPT can lock the PCM. I haven't checked up on that though.

Usually the dealer won't care if you change your program unless it is a warranty issue.

Edit: on a side note for Musashi3000GT (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/member.php?u=196670) too bad your not near Iowa, I know a guy here who will install it cheaper than the dealer and I can flash the stage2 right on there. We go for a little drive and dial it in for your car....

You could solve alot of problems if you just didnt give a damn about the warranty :D
