Bigger oil filter works fine.

I found the Motocraft FL 2005 filter is about half again as long as the OEM FL 910 which is recommended. It has the same size gasket base and same size threads so why notget more bang for you buck. Ford recently approved the use of Mercon V where Mercon is called for. Mercon V is half synthetic therefore tolerates friction and resulting heat better.
