I have heard that using P2P software and leaving your computer on all day all night damages the hard drive because of the little bit of information added every second.
Has anyone else's boot record been damaged through over use of the internet and P2P?
Or is this horse S*** and my computer is just crap

It doesn't affect your hdd, Make sure you have a decent up to date antivirus software. I use P2P software daily and normally it does run overnight 5-7 days a week. Never had a single problem yet

me neither. i constantly leave irc on overnight, but BMW is right about having a good virus protection(keep on auto protect too). sometimes peope will randomly try to send out viruses, but ive never had a problem. norton catches everything.

Sounds like BS. Get good antivirus software, update definitions twice a week and run a software firewall. You'll be sweet. ;)
