OK, Folks the frame on my '95 HB finally went. I WAS going to weld it up before it broke, but that didn't happen. Question is: How do I know where to locate the control arm so I can weld the mount back in its' original position? I REALLY want to save this car...last tank was 62.09 MPG, & it's NOT an XFI....it's worth the effort, if I can locate it properly...Thanks

About all you can do is estimate where the arm was before by using a long prybar and getting the wheel back in line as close as possible. Then you get it welded up and do an alignment.

Also see THIS LINK (http://metroxfi.com/2008/05/how-to-repair-a-rusted-metro-frame/) for more info and pics with measurements, but this is for a pre-1995 Metro I think.

Good luck to you!

Thanks, Johnny...that's pretty much what I figured...maybe somebody out ther can post the center-to-center dimensions of the control arm mounting bolts...in the mean time, I'm gonna work on getting the '91 XFI on the road (no rust at all, & with 3-M rubberized undercoating, I aim to keep it that way). It's getting real close to running. I bought myself a Cavalier to drive in the mean time...nice car, but even with a little 2.2 L-4, it REALLY loves gas...

Go there and get the four point underbody brace. It'll hold everything together for repair and then continuue to help after you have it fixed.
