Hi i have an 86 trans am i just got and when i got it it had no carb distributor or valve covers and it sat for 2 years i threw a distributer in it and a pos carb i had laying around. i got car to fire and run!!! it blew wierd chunks out of the valve train:eek7: . i changed oil and put valve covers on. now i had smoke (white) coming out of exhaust when i step on it, and out of breathers and carb?!? i pluged up carb and one breather and blew into other breather and smoke came out of intake:eek7: . i replaced intake gaskets now vry little white smoke out of exhaust and still alot outa breathers and runs poorly .now i looked at oil it over filed(only put in 4 and half quarts). i thinking mayb risidual anti freeze in engine frome intake gasket cause there was some in the top of engine under intake.any ideas?!?!?!?:naughty:

Check for a bad head gasket first, buy a hd gasket checking kit, and or pressure test the cooling system and refrain from the 4 letter words also.

Check for a bad head gasket first, buy a hd gasket checking kit, and or pressure test the cooling system and refrain from the 4 letter words also. ok ill remember for future referance but right now water pump not hooked up and olny str8 water in it, that y i think mayb there still anti freeze in oil, so when it heats up white smoke coming out of breather from hot watter burning like i said there was a good amount when i took off intake and looked down that why i think it still that it risidual... do u think that could b it

If you changed the oil I can't see that much residual causing this, change it again and see.

If you changed the oil I can't see that much residual causing this, change it again and see.no i didnt change it after i pulled of intake i clearly saw little bit of antifreeze but would jus a little cause that much smoke? i changed it once and got rid of chunks but i think sludge still in it because it only took about 4 and half quarts of oil i think that y its sluggish to but i only a dirtbike mechanic so cars is a little new to me. thanks for your time

ALWAYS change the oil after pulling the intake on a Chevy. There's no way to NOT get junk in the oil. Change the filter, too... Sounds like a blown head gasket to me.
