I was wondering where the oil pressure relief valve is located on my 1996 Gmc Sonoma with the 4.3 liter engine because on the way home from work my truck started smoking real bad so I shut it down and looked around under the hood , when I discovered oil leaking at the oil filter it was the seal. Simple fix I thought, so got another oil filter cleaned everything up and now every time I change an oil filter for some strange reason the seal is blowing. I need help?

Are you using the good ac-delco filters?
It is very hard to blow the seal if it is the right filter.
Are you sure it is not the base gasket or oil line o rings/crimps?
Put a manual oil pressure test gauge on it.
And post back oil pressure.

I really appreciate your response but at this point I have no choice other than to take it to the dealer because everything is pointing at the oil pump and the engine has to be pulled to change it so, once again, thanks and I will post the cause later on.

I had a 2000 blazer 4x4 with the remote oil filter and changed the filter 3 times turned out to be the hoses going to the remote oil filter assembly.
