how do i get the old 6x9s out to put new ones in

You will have to remove the seat in order to gain access to the rear deck. Its really simple but has a learning curve of course.

The bottom of the seat you can pull up in the front and then it should slide right out. Remove the 2 or 3 bolts holding the back seat and seat belts in place and set those aside.

Slide the bottom of the seat off of the bolts and then push it up and pull it out. Might take some work but it will come off. Once both parts of the seat are out of the way, you can remove the rivets that hold on the back deck cover and voila, 6x9's!

Man, all that to change speakers?

Depends on how badly one wants new speakers. If I needed them, this is what I would do....

If your putting aftermarket in, be sure to flip the radio on and see if you like the sound before you put it all back together....

It's really not THAT hard. I replaced mine some time ago...I typically take 2-3 times longer to do a job the first time through, and I got them done in less than 3 hours...and that includes time to run inside and search the internet to find out what wire is what...make sure you find a wire diagram before you start just to make it easier...make sure positive goes to positive, you know.

It is actually very easy, the first time I did it on my car it took about an hour. I helped a buddy change his and it took less than 45 minutes. The reason it is so involved is because the speaker grills are part of the rear shelf and cannot be removed separately, and the screws that hold the speakers in come in from the top.

I can definitely vouch that it can be done in an hour or less. Just tug the bottom of the back seat out (2 minutes), unbolt the upper rear seat and remove (5 minutes or so), pull off the rear cover, unscrew the speakers, cut/remove the wires. Install is just the opposite, just make sure you use some quality connections if you want it to last...personally I use decent quality butt connectors, I've never had a problem with them...just make sure you crimp them FULLY.
