wont run

just bought a 79 caprice can't get it to start rolls over fine changed cap and rotor ,getting gas and spark and chkd timeing its good it wants to run but just wont take off changeing plugs tomarrow as the car has sat for 3 yrs any other ideas? tx

If you have fuel and spark and it will not start this is the timing chain..
check for compression...

usually it will rapidly start and die repeatedly...

usually it will rapidly start and die repeatedly... that is 1 worry as its just a 305 but would like to drive home.and it was my buddys great grannys car and has low miles as when she past away they parked it.but now i think about it he did say 1 time gas got in the oil but he changed it and it ran fine. 4 yrs ago

you need fuel,spark , and compression......check compression ...could be stuck valve.....and timing chain etc...

maybe rats made nest in exhaust pipe ....if exhaust is plugged it won't suck fuel...
