Don't make this mistake

I'm sure that this would be obvious to many of you but i'll say it anyway.
As some of you remember i have a stock 91 DX.
I was thinking about getting 2 inch pipe in the exhaust to reduce back end pressure. But i never did.
Recently i developed an exhaust leak. Voila! Back end pressure is reduced without me spending a dime. My car is now loud as hell but I decide to put up with it.
So the other night i go to the bar and drink. Then i drive home. Usually it's not a big deal-- a short drive.
So I'm driving late at night with a blood alcahol level. My civic is loud as hell and i've got tinted windows. I'm on the outskirts of a rough neighborhood somewhat known for drug use.
In hindsight i'm now realizing how this was truly the dumbest thing i have done in a while. :screwy:
Sure enough, the sirens go off. Myself and another driver get pulled over.
The officer asks me questions. I immediately admitted that i was coming from the bar.
I hear one police officer mention that he smells marajuana (i had not had any. so i assume it was the other car). The officer asks me to get out of the car, I do. He cuffs me and puts me in the back of the squad car.
After a while they asked me if had any marajuana. To which i replied, "no."
Instead of testing my blood alcahol they just gave me a bull**** ticket for failing to signal a turn. I got incredibly lucky. I thought for sure that my license was gone. (maybe they found reefer in the other car which made me look pretty reasonable by comparison)

By the way, being polite & cooperative will not help some situations. But for me, in this situation, i know that it did.

You're very lucky. VERY LUCKY. Someone really likes you. That's all I have to say.
I REFUSE to drive even if I'd only had one or two... I WILL NOT drink if I think I might have to drive later.
As far as the exhaust leak... go with the 2" exhaust... or at least get that leak fixed.. it's making us all look bad
P.S.:rofl::rofl::rofl: But seriously though... get it fixed

I agree with Christ. If I know I'm gonna drive, I won't drink anything.
Being polite and cooperative will get you a lot further than being a "know it all". Even if I know they are wrong, I usually try not to smart off to them at the time, but I have before. Being polite and cooperative kept my ass out of jail and my car out of the impound before, several times actually.

"I'm sorry officer, I didn't know it was illegal to run with an open downpipe off my turbo and floor it out of town doing 80+ in the 25 @8500 RPM... I really didn't... I swear it.
I also didn't know that you were in your jurisdiction at this part of the road... OH WAIT!!! You're not. Goodday officer."
That's me being polite and courteous to a cop.
That would have gotten me thrown in jail, if the cop didn't think I was funny because I was obviously being an asshole. He started laughing... and let me go, without tickets, fines, fees, or arrest... just told me not to do it again... oh, and "get that exhaust leak fixed."

Fixed it on friday. I used the Tiger Muffler repair patch/wrap. I found this stuff to work good so far. They've told me it could last for 3 mos to a year.

yeah, those things aren't guaranteed to work for very long, just to get you through inspection or until you can get it fixed permanently.
