Hello, I have a 95 Olds 98 and I replaced the heat control and the fan on the fire wall keeps running? Is their any other switch or any thing that i could replace to make the fan work by means of the control unit inside the car?

thanks, jbsam5

Chances are the Blower Control Module has failed and the blower is stuck on high speed..

The Blower control module will reside underneath the Maxifuse / Relay center... Look for the wires going to the Blower and follow them... This will lead you to the Blower Control Module... It will most likely be held in with 3 or 4 screws parked on top of the blower housing

Last night when my wife got home she told me that the heater fan would not shut off, even when the ignition was turned off. After looking it over I am able to control fan speed and direction the air goes, except for turning it completely off. When the key is turned off the fan continues to run and the dampers swap to defrost. The car is a 1993 Olds 98 and it has climate control. I did not know that a heater fan could get power when the key is turned off. Last night I unhooked the battery and this evening I am going to pull the panel off on the pass. side and see if the fuse for the fan is in there. On a print I found it shows the fan fed by a 25 amp fuse that is to be "Hot in Run". Thanks for any help you can give me.

very common problem- replace the fan control speed module in the HVAC case under the relay center-- they are pricey if you buy them new--and yes it does run off the battery hot fusable link...and runs the battery down if you don't fix it..

Thanks brcidd for the help. I swapped the module out of a 95 olds 98 that I am trying to get back on the road and it did the trick. To check and make sure that it was the module that was bad I plugged it into the 95 olds and the fan ran as soon as the plug was inserted. The module was easier to get to on the 93 model than the 95. The gas lines in the way and less slack in the wires going to the relay center made it a real chore getting the unit out. Again thanks to you and Jrs3800.
