I just had a 2008 rav4 and is now almost 1000miles, during the first 1K miles, I noticed some annoying vibrations at stationary when the AC is on while it is in "D" / "R" shift, further the RPM fluctuates from 600 to 800 RPM at idle (AC is on), interval of 8 to 9 seconds. Should there be a solution/repair this type of vibration issue? Please help..thanks.

Vibration where/how?

Are you sure it's not just the A/C?

The engine vibrates when break is applied while on a "D" shift (A/C is on). Vibration felt on the driver and passenger seats:runaround: . Could this lead to a future major problem? Or I have to live with this nasty engine vibration:shakehead . Thanks for the enlightenment.

The AC puts a load on the engine when the clutch on the compressor activates. It's more effort for the engine to turn one more item. If it's really, really bad I would see what could be done to lessen the vibration from its activating at the dealer. I doubt that they will have an answer to your problem, though. You may just have to live with that. Mine has been like that from new. I've had it since 1997. If it's the only thing to warrant a bad review from you, then it's the least of your problems. Over all, Toyota makes a really good vehicle. All the awards they get prove it. LOL!

Not at all familiar with the specifics on a RAV 4 but, any car will have a system to increase the idle when the A/C is turned on because of the increased load induced by the compressor. On many cars the Engine Control Module (ECM) will actuate an idle control valve to accomplish this. It sounds like that circuit may have a problem.

I have noticed that the rev (RPM) increases whenever the headlight is turned on and the engine vibrates, can we say that this is a part of the circuit problem? appreciate of your insights.

Could be an indication the circuit is working. As I say, I'm not up on RAV4 specifics. I own a 2006 but, haven't had to touch it other than to change the oil. I'm a regular on the Camry forum amongst others. Just popped in for a look see.

Your best move is to take it to the dealer and have them take a look at it. Your warranty will cover it. Make sure they put in writting what they found and if they find nothing, make sure it states what your complaint is and a statement saying the vibration is normal. This will build an accurate documented history incase you have future problems.
