Stupid things that make you freak out

I had one today...

I left the house, and quickly became aware of a loud click coming from the dash around the instrument panel...it would happen at fairly regular intervals, like every ten seconds as I drove through the neighborhood...it sounded like a relay opening, had a bit of that relay "ting" type sound to it.

So as I drive along, mind racing through all the horrible electrical problems this could be an omen of, I turn the radio off to make sure it's not that, and start messing with everything on the dash...turn the lights on, in case it's the twilight sentinel gone insane, nope. Wipers? Nope. Defroster? No. A/C? Negative....etc, etc...everything works right, but as I stopped at the light at the end of the neighborhood, the noise stopped...

It was then I realized what it was...I'd pushed the reset on the trip odometer when I got home yesterday, and apparently the reset button didn't pop back up fully...leaving the trip odo mechanism in a position where it could touch cogs, but not turn, so it was making that sound every 1/10th mile as it tried to turn the display wheel...

Whew!:iceslolan
