Its done guys. It replicates the 1964 Lemans GT Class winner using the Scale Motorsport Builders kit, MCW Viking blue and Vintage Racing Miniatures decals. This is an excellent kit in curbside and my next extended review in MC.

Fabulous indeed...Never seen of one these kits being built. Really great work - I especially like the shiny fuel filler cap as well as the paint job. One heck of a model.

Thanks boys! Glad its liked, Look for a full review in the OCT issue of MCM.....

Here are the few corrections I made and now you can call it done!

The 1964 car only ran one wiper... I removed the Pass side wiper and capped off the hole with a PE bolt.

And I remembered the rear number as well!! :)

Here is one of my favorite shots...you can see a glimpse of the spare tire in the back....

Looks nice, Dave, great finish.

I know the SMS kit just from photos, but I think the amout of details isnīt so great for that price (f.e. seats cast to the chassis, etc)

I couldn't see the pics in the first post, but I got the idea when you posted a few others.
Dude...That is awesome. You have amazing talent.

Hey Sportracer2 the seats are not casted to the chassis they are seperate as is the entire suspension details and there is actually an engine block too if you want to detail the build further. The thing that is so amazing about the SMS kit is the accuaracy and cleanliness of all the parts, I have yet to see any Cobra kit whose castings are that accurate and clean. All the other companies that have released Cobra kits in the past few years get their information from books and magazines. SMS actually spent two days at the museum documenting the car, so you know they got the details right. What other company in the aftermarket business goes to that length to make sure their customers get accurate details? In fact there are so many details in this kit I bet you couldn't build one using all the details that come with the kit.

sportracer2, you baffle me!

I suppose a kit from studio 27 with a FAR less detailed interior and at 200 USD is more affordable and better worth it to you?????

I'd like you to point out a kit cheaper with equal or more details?

I won't hold my breath because it doesn't exist.

Beautiful.... that spare tire looks like you could put it on a real car.

Great work Dave, very nice job on one of my favorite vintage race cars.

I bow to you-this is art.
I've been looking at this kit, so it's nice to see a completed one.

Hi Dave

This is indeed a very impressive model.
I am not really a fan of these old race cars, but I do like a work of art !

Question:
The rear window, was it already this dark in the kit, or did you have to paint it with Tamiya smoke, or did you put some window foil on it ?
I'm curious as I want to darken the windows of a car I'm working on and I'm not sure which method is the way to go.

The windows are clear vacuum formed pieces in the kit you need to cut out. The rear window can be tinted with Tamiya smoke or the decal sheet provides a window tint decal which is what I used.

Micha,
This kit in my opinion of course is the nicest of them all. Harold Bradfords is probably its rival, BUT its twice the price!! Although The HRM kit is full detail, this kit has an engine block that easily can be added to using heads and valve covers and other details from a GT 350 mustang kit. And like others have said, the kit seats are separate pieces.. In fact I am going to get another kit from Matthew and sooner or later superdetail it!

Thanks all, I am glad you like it.
