Help with 98 buick electrical problem please

I have a 98 regal that died on my today. Looked and acted like the alternator. After a new alternator and new battery the battery light is still on. I took the car to the shop but they were stumped. I've had suggestions anywhere from it being a wiring issue to a needed reset of the dashboard trouble lights? I'm stuck. The battery is new and the mechanic searched the car for damaged connections and could not find any. Any thoughts out there? It would be much appreciated!

Could be a wiring issue or something else. Do you have access to test equipment like a meter (DMM)? When engine running what voltage do you have for alternator output (big red wire - B+)? The battery charge warning light is activated by the powertrain control module (PCM). The PCM receives the input from the alternator at Generator Term. L. Red wire at the electrical connector that plugs-in.
