so...I sketch every day pretty much and as a result I end up with 2 or 3 or more projects at a time. I don't always share everything because then I look like a post w_ore, which I may anyway, but well...you know what I mean.
Anyway this other site I go to is having a "Do art like CARtoons magazine" show. There's a lot of folks that are doing the rods with burnin tires kinda Ed Roth style and many that are doin Trosley style work which is very very cool.
I wasn't going to submit anything then I had a thought. CARtoons was a magazine I read all the time. I still have issues dating back to 77. I still reference them to this day. In any case in 1991 I was first published in the My Wheels section of CARtoons. It was the Feb. issue and when I got to page 27, I almost s_it bricks!

I know I know...pretty rough but it was literally the work of mine that was published anywhere. I was stoked.
So I thought for my submission to the art thing I would redo my first published piece and point out that My Wheels in CARtoons was the starting point for many of the auto artist that we know and love today.
Here's a rough sketch I'm working up for it.

I'm actually pretty ok with it.
I won't be able to get to the guts anytime soon as I have some other stuff on my plate but I may try to squeeze in 20 minutes here and there to work through it.

coming along in the spare buts of time, but it's fun so

it was neat to get a drawing in CARtoons, but what it showed me more than anything was that I had a looooong way to go. I still feel that way. The journey is where the growth is. It's pretty cool to be this. You should all feel good.

Great story and a cool accomplishment getting published in CARtoons.
(I saved a few old copies too, but wish I had kept more.)
The new toon has great proportions and a very toony look.

Got a lesson from one of the top cats today.
Jaw dropping.
I'll be rendering this in a new way for me. I'll talk about it later. Extremely cool method.

Looking way cool Lemmons. Good to see you're still kickin' around here!
I just came back to see who's around and maybe dust off the old pen and pencil. Sadly I've been watching far too much Top Gear for my own good and now I've got that itch for cars I haven't actually had in a few years. My life is so busy as is, but it's nice to see you and Bonz are still around. Kustm still here?
