I'm interested in replacing the stock tail lights on my 04 cavalier with euro lights. I would like to use a kit from 02 and prior because I feel they look much better than the bulky 03 - 05 kits. Has anyone tried this? Obviously there would be some leftover mounting holes to fill and paint, but other than that would the 02 and prior kits just bolt on or require further modification to the rear end?

Yes, any style of tail light from 95-02 will fit a 03+ Cavalier without modification. Though you will have a series of holes in the trunk lid from the 03+ tail lights.
I actually have a 95-99 style tail light on my Cavalier. But instead of filling the holes in I purchased a Carbon Fiber benzel from RKSport that covers up that portion of the trunk as well as looking nice IMO.

For a total of $300 i swapped to a 01-02 Z/24/LS Sport trunk and lights.
I got it all from the junkyard.

I miss having a decent paint job. Your white one looks good. Mine is sporting rust on each end and side, and will have to wait until I can "treat" the rust and then save to get it painted. I'm not one to just let a vehicle rot away when unlike my in laws say to just let it go. He has no problem replacing a rusting vehicle. I'd like to get a v6 Fusion in place of my cav, but that ain't happening. At least for now.
