Service engine light is on. Code check confirms P0741. Torque converter clutch circuit performance or stuck off. Transmission seems to work fine with no loss in performance. Help please!

That means the torque converter clutch is not locking up. You'll want to diagnose it further if you do any regular highway driving as it helps a lot on the efficiency of an A/T (gives better MPGs). If you dont drive much and only drive in the city, I probably wouldn't worry about fixing it. To test the solenoid, unplug the connector and measure the resistance. If it's open, the solenoid is bad.

How many miles on this and which engine ??
It is also possible that a wire in that circuit is shorted, probly on the inside of trans ... or your torqu converter is going south.....

Grand Am has 115,000 miles and is a 4 cylinder.. Only thing noticible is an odd sound immediately when starting engine and only lasts about a second or so. Sounds like it is in the trans.
