Hello
My 98 didge caravan has developed a weird problem for no peticular reason
the chime and icon for open door in dashboard the power door locks and courtesy lights inside the van turn on and off by themselves sometimes 1 time sometimes 3 times sometimes 5 times its very random?

Can I just pull the fuse or relay and where is it located

Any ideas of why this could be happening before I have to spend the big bucks at the dealer?

Thanks
Gabe:confused:

I would start pulling relays and checking for corrosion on the contacts. I used to have fog lights that would just turn on and off by themselves (even when the car was sitting in the driveway and I was inside.) I pulled the relay to find a bunch of green corrosion on the relay. Grabbed an old tooth brush cleaned it off and the problem was solved

And you can pull the IOD fuse in the fuse box next to the battery for 2-3 minutes to reset the Body Control Module. The BCM controls most electrical functions in the van.

Yesterday I pulled ALLthe fuses and relays both under the hood and under the drivers side dash and clean them (they did not look dirty)

The end result............I drove about 20 miles so far and the problem seems to be gone

I think problem solved...I hope.....cross my fingers

gabe 1965 I had the exact same problem with my 97 voyager and it was the contact on the drivers door. I just added a small sticky extender on the push button( like what you put on the bottom of a chair to stop from scatching the floor) works great until it falls off then just add another.

Sure can. On yours the fuse box is called the Integrated Power Module or IPM. Chrysler likes to keep us confused. If you can't find it, disconnecting the negative battery cable for 2-3 minutes accomplishes the same thing. If the reset doesn't do it, Rama's scenerio sounds just as plausable if you're having the same problem Gabe was having.

Sorry but, I'm keeping my van

Well... no luck, this morning did it just once I going to try Rama's idea.
That is a huge improvement over what's been happening in the past few months.http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/images/icons/icon6.gif

Maybe the door lock is going bad

I will keep you updated.

Thanks
