When I was buying my intercooler supplies I thought it would be a waste to spend $13 on something I wouldnt use again. I saw that people were asking how to make wings so I took my styrene and made a wing.
Materials:
Super Glue not Model Glue
.030 Plain Styrene sheet
X-Acto knives
Cereal Box
Ruler
1. Take a cereal box and cut out each different piece of the wing.
http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/6697171.jpg
2. Take your cardboard pieces that you cut out and trace them on the .030 Plain Styrene sheet.
http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/4074702.jpg
3. Cut out all the styrene pieces with a knife.
http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/7541083.jpg
4. Cut slits into each end piece so the middle pieces can fit snugly in the slits.
http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/2244524.jpg
5. Cut slits in the bottom piece for the stands (legs) to hold the bottom up.
http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/7773575.jpg
6. Make sure everything fits perfectly (unlike mine since I rushed) and use superglue not model glue to hold all the pieces secure.

I hope this helps everyone that wants to make a wing, keep in mind that I rushed through mine so mine is kinda messy.

LOL!!! :lol2: Nice wings!
LMAO it's funny because it almost gives you the idea ogf ghetto wings but with some sprusing up it will be perfect.
I'm not putting you down, great idea, but I'm guessing this is how FOTW did his wings before casting them into resin.

I like the part about the cereal box, although before I place things on to my stylene, I've always used note cards, or oak tag.
I've previously made a Touring wing out of stylene on my Accord, but this write-up can help others, as well as me.
Question, how does these self-healing matts work, I got one, but never found out how they work, anyone know how?

Thanks for the tip, I'm sure it'll come in handy in the future.
Although an alternative to using a cereal box would be to draw on masking tape, cut out then stick directly onto plastic sheet and cut out.

That masking idea is great.

i think that the mat is never actually cut...the mat is a soft, compact foam that is easily deformed, while the top layer is a very tough plastic or something.
i am just guessing though....if anyone else knows id be interested to know too

Whenever I cut mine there is a slit for like 5 seconds.

Yeah mine does the same kinda thing, the mats are cool, and very weird at the same time, i dont get them.
And thatnks for the tutorial on the wings... I really didn't wanna have to spend $20 on some SAS wings (no offense chris, they rule but too much $$)

yup, its just the soft foam thats deformed....the top layer has not been cut though. the foam takes a while to go back to its original shape

Im trying to make a comeback. I have been pretty busy lately. I'm getting ready to start a Tamiya RX-7. Hopefully I can stay focused on this project, I dont think I can stay focused alone though.
Glad to see someone on this forum actually knows who I am and recognizes me. Thanks
