I finally finished my R-M ITR. It is definately not my best model. I started getting frustrated with it so I started to throw it together. Everything was going well, until, the spray paint, it didnt spray paint, it spit paint! So the paint looks a little crapy, with bubbles and I was so frustrated with it I didnt sand it down or anything, I just didnt care anymore. My nect model, a 2002 Honda Integra will be much much betterm with a custom body kit and all.
Enough of that.
Here are the modifications on my ITR:
Scratchbuilt Tach w/ shift light
Scratchbuilt Intercooler
Custom Body kit
Custom Exhaust
Now for the good part, the pics:

I think you could've spent WAY more time with the Body kit and hood. The design is ok and all, but it looks like the holes were hastily cut out. I would've taken a file to the places you cut so it looked more smooth. You can see little bits of extra plastic. The paint looks decent, but it does look like Testor. If I spent all the time on the body kit and the bad ass interior, I would've spent a little extra money on a can of Tamiya spray or went the Duplicolor Route. Don't take me wrong. The model looks absolutely great! Just trying to give some constructive critisism for next time.

I know what you mean, I just started getting frustrated with it, I just wanted it to get it over with. Thanx for the comments and suggestions.

I am with him. Spend more time on the exterior, thats what everybody sees first. Alleast get rid of the plastic burrs left around the vent openings. Testors paint is not that bad, Just have to use it in prime conditions.

Real shame about the paint etc.
IMO just put it away and bring it back out in a few months and start over again after you have done a few others.
With a real good paint job this kit would look really great

Hey Pman I have been thinking about "restoring" it over the summer with better paint and hood. Thanks for the complements.

I'd definately do a restoration. Maybe just by smoothing out the burrs and stripping the paint and redoing it. I think it would look really nice with some Tamiya Pure White paint and metallic blue racing stripes. That'd be sweet, and I think it'd go really nice with the interior too. Whenever you get frustrated with a project, just put it up and work on a different one for a while. I usually have 2-3 projects going at a time. 1 main project, which is usually the one I put the most time into (Custom F-150 right now). Then, I have a second one (the duster) that I work on when I get frustrated with my main project. The duster has been in the works for half a year now...just because I only work on it when the other one pisses me off. Just take your time and be sure that in the end, you've done your best. That's all that matters.

I don't know why everyone thinks testors paint is so bad; I used it on all four of my most recent models:

and for the past 9 years. Maybe that's why, I guess I understand it's characteristics. All the models were painted at different temps, one while it was raining outside, and all have a simple coat of turtle wax to give them higher shine. Hmm, I guess we use what works the best for us. I think you are definitely taking steps in the right direction, and as mentioned earlier, when you get pissed, put the model away, and start on something else. Come back to it when you've come up with a different strategy. Remember, this is supposed to be fun!!

i think most of the people here are just lazy, it's just EASIER for them to get better paint jobs with Tamiya cans, so they go and dis testors.
Some people here use Tamiya cans and personally, i think they're paint jobs still suck.
It's how you finish the paintjob that makes the difference..

I agree, people should quit dissing Testor (like they do with Revell and AMT ). I got good results using Testor paints.

If you suck at spray painting it is your fault, but if your good at spray painting good for you.
I have a friend who is expierienced with testors model master spray paints and can get a good finish.
But serioiusly if you got a Testors can and a Tamiya can got two bodies and experimented, you can DEFINITELY say Tamiya is easier to use.
In Tamiya cans paint flows much better than testors. And Testors in my experience tends to spit paint, and goes on Heavier.
Tamiya is just so much easier to use and you don't have to be as careful.

I have had lots of expierience with painting and normally my testors paints good. The paint sprayed all blochy that why my bodykit looks horrible, before it was painted it was smooth as glass. I dont know what happened it just splattered everywhere thats why the hole thing looks awful. And the fact that I got pissed at it didnt help much.

I dont think we need to be calling people lazy because they pick one brand over another...its there choice to use.
If they get a better finish with what they are using....cool, keep it up.
I've used both brands and i know what i would use.....Tamiya paints work for me and i'll continue to use them because ,for me...they work. With the price of kits costing more and more i dont fancy screwing up a paint job with a brand i know doesnt work for me....it doesn't make me lazy
:)

I have only painted one car body with Tamiya sprays. (Tamiya Civic) It has some orange peel, but I wasen't accustomed to it, I usually use Testors Model Master with an airbrush for the bodys(always had good results with the paint, it's the dust that screws me the most!), but wanted to give Tamiya a shot.
Anyways, Mike, a little sanding here and there, it would look awesome, it's always good to put away a project and bring it back out again, because you'll definatly be more experienced, but looks good for a first bodykit!
92 Mustang, hehe, I do the same with my projects!

It doesn't suck man, its just you rushed it, and thats what happends. You can tell a rushed job mostly everytime. It just needs some sanding and the front lip balanced. Don't sweat, just put it away and then go back at it when you feel you won't rush it. I know I have had to with my tegs.

I agree with most people, it just looks like it was really rushed, the interior looks pretty good, but the exterior looks very rushed.
The only think I dont like about the actual model, is the fact that your rear bumper looks a lot lower and looks like it was not rushed compared to the front bumper. The front looks O.K. but definately could have used more time and thought.
