ok, i will try to explain this the best i can . . . here it goes

the car is column shift everything shifts good but when it shifts the selector/indicator on the dash that tells you what gear u are in doesnot move

ive heard that it is an easy fix and the cable/linkage is just broken, where can i find one of these cables, would NAPA have it and how do i take out the old cable and put the new one in?

thanks, hope everyone understands this

The part that you're talking about is referred to as a shift quadrant. It's basically a pointer with a little steel cable that attaches to the outside of the steering column - the part that moves with the trans shift lever.

Like I've suggested to you before, you need to get a manual for your car. A manual, such as a Haynes or Chilton's manual, will detail how the procedure is performed on your specific car.

I had a Haynes manual and it was so bad I tossed it. I picked up some factory GM manuals on eBay that were tons better than the Haynes. Chiltons is better than nothing.

Try your local library. They may have manuals in the reference section. You can't take them out, but you can copy anything that you need.
