I would like to see what everyone's engine compartment looks like.

Especially P10DET, I would like to check out the SR20DET

Hey, you have a digital camera? Can you bring it tomorrow? I don't have a digital and I'm out of film.

Nice engine, Jason. Diggin the blue valve cover. It may look good, but it does not perform as good as I want it to (At least, not yet) I will really be happy when I get the turbo put on and a few other misc. power adders. The car will be in the shop all winter, so I hope can get these done.

Yep. Forgot to do it last weekend. Hopefully Phil wil bring his digital camera to the geekout tomorrow. If not, I'll try to get some on film and scan them.

I haven't heard form hot for about a week. Last time I talked to them, the woman named Martha who is in charge of sponsorships had lost all of my information and now they are trying to find it. I also talked to John, and I guess they are trying to concentrate on some race car projects. I'll keep you posted....

OK. Thanks. I need to call this week. I've been meaning to follow up to my message I left, but my job has been nuts for the last few weeks.

BTW, Martha is John's wife. Be really nice to her. I've never met her, but she's a real sweetheart from what I've heard.

Well after looking at the Dec. SCC, I have to say that the main engine pic will suffice. I wanted you to post the engine pic here, not in your own article in SCC...(lol)...Well I must say the swap looks very good, those other import racers on the streets will never know what hit them. I would like to see the rest of the car.

For the car? I still have to install an exhaust. I'm going to run a 2.5" mandrel bent with as large a resonator as possible and a Remus dual tip muffler.

I also have been working on making my stock swaybars adjustable, but I just haven't had time.

I'll try to get some new photos of the car. All of the ones on my website are old.

Well, facts: 0-60 mph in about 14,6 secs (with stock 13" tires, and about 1,5 sec more with 17")
Top speed about 110 mph.
Stock 75 hp, adjusted and cone filter, now about : 80-85hp.
Soon to come; Turbo Intercooler, I`m shooting for 140 hp.

here is mine, before I put on the blue pipe cover and cleaned and shined it and before I put on my soon-to-have pop charger...

George, just curious, how much did this entire swap cost you? The SCC article doesn't really say much. It's something I have planned in the not so distant future.

Honestly, I've never added it all up. I would say plan on an absolute bare minimum of about $2,500 (probably more like $3,000). To duplicate my set-up would probably run closer to $4,000. The Extrude Hone and Swain coating really works great. The under hood temps are really low for a turbo engine. The turbo spools so smoothly you cannot tell the onset of boost. With the pulleys and flywheel it feels like a good normally aspirated engine off boost.

You should road trip it up here to compete in the annual Banks Oregon tractor pull, with all that torque I bet you'd take first easy!:D

Azn if I'm not mistaken, the intake manifold is how it comes on the Sunny DET's. Chris' 200 is GTI-R powered.

I believe that is the Pulsar GTi-R engine so therefore it has individual throttle bodies as the intake manifold. Chris, what is it about the cylinder head thats different than regular DETs for the GTi-R? Oops someone beat me to the response.

both the BB and GTi-R DETs have quad individual TBs. i wonder if you will get any gains from swapping in the GTi-R cams into the BB?

Nice engines people...I've seen some engines with red spark plug wires...what brand are those? What other brands make wires for the P11? Would the wires fit both the the P10 SR20 and the P11 SR20? :bloated:

No the BB doesn't have Quad TB's BB is just like the US SPEC motor with piston coolers, watter cooled oil cooler and lower comprestion and different cams' thats all that is different in a BB and a N/A SR20DE motor

GTIR motor is totally different . The block is a diffrent casting. Casting code of a BB and N/A SR20DE is 53J and a GTIR is 54C. The head is totally different the head bolts are thicker on a GTIR the CAM's can't be switched due to the GTIR has micanical solid lifter head and the 53J BB motors are just the the N/A SR20DE witch have hidrolic lash adjusters.
GTIR are a bitch to set the lash adjustments. You have to reshim the hole head. we had to do it on mine. its not a 1 day thing takes a cople of days.

Plug wires. Nothing is better then Stock.. I have tested Nology's and I lost HP along with magnacore's and the best have been Stock. NGK OE's are not bad ether

probably not going to get the swap now. low budget, and im probably going to get a P11 in june. i will do a DET swap into the P11 later on myself. i live in Irvine, well close to it, if you know where that is.
