I was wondering how long my eclipse would last! Because somke people have told me that the eclipse's were put together cheapily and break down after 100,000 miles< is this true. It's probably becasue everybody that has an eclipse hot-rods it! But if anybody has had any past problems with their eclipse(Besides normal maintenance), please tell me about it! Thanx in advance!

From my experience in the import scene i have not seen an eclipse go past 100.500 but yes those were all people how do you say... ah yes
"hot rodin' it" but im sure with scheduled maintenance and tune ups when you should, you should go a long ways down the road or dragstrip for that matter

i am currently at 117,600 and i just took my car in to have it completely checked by mitsubishi, along with my check engine light. They said my car is completely fine, and that the only problem i have is the faulty fuel tank sensor. This is after my car was stolen, and obviously "played" with. I'd say they are pretty reliable.

If you look in Consumer Reports which rates cars dependability youll see that the Eclipse only has two years rated an 00 and an 01 but only the 00 model is recommended. The older years I've heard bad things about like valve float. I guess youll just have to hope you got a dependable car but I dont view Eclipses as dependable.

If I was you I would sell the Eclipse and get the new Lancer 8 coming out 271 hp stock , yum! HA HA HA.

jealous, i think not, although it is true that your cars could beat me. I could give a flying fuck, who really gives a shit...not me thats for damn sure. I was just stating a fact that i have experienced in my time with cars. so if you are going to lable it jealousy go right the hell ahead but you would be making a false statement. Dont just turn honda people away cause you think they do not have a knowledge of a mitsubishi. I have had alot of time with them seeing as i have 3 friends that own them and it was the car i learned how to drive on. im not going to use a little smiley for this (FUCK YOU)

You people don't know shit about DSM's!
The 4G63 motor is known for being a bullet proof motor that can take LOTS of boost in stock form.
I have two DSM's , one with 123,000+ and one with 142,000+ miles. Both are great cars.

blur, couldnt put it better. Also, its about taking care of cars. Doing your regular tuneups, and changing parts when needed.... your car will last as long as you want it to. Meaning... if you hear a "strange" sound, fix it. Dont ride on it. Yeah, honda's may "last" forever, but so can a DSM. Plus, they DO handle a better psi stock then most hondas do without a top end rebuild.

My GSX currently has 125k miles on it, 15psi every day minimum, all scheduled maintenance by yours truly, a bunch of go fast parts, & it's ran a best of 12.625@112mph. Not to shabby. My friend Jay clicked over 200k, drove it all the way from Louisianna & still boosts hard to this day w/ 140#'s across the cylinders. So there goes the 100k mile rule huh?

Don't wana add up to the flame but, I am so so hoping to get a 1G 92' DSM this summer as a graduation gift. Well I've been researching into cars for the last like 2 years... and my friend on the other hand bought a honda civic SiR (actually Si... it's the Canadian labeling), and well he's all proud of it, and it actually isn't that bad...especially for a highschool car! Anyways, i'm not biased but it's not that great, but he went on and on about vtec, and how SiR is like the best honda so on and so forth. I pointed out many little things... like at a time him and another friend thaught dyno horsepower and torque was based on the speed (like km/h) not rpms... o_O When I said RPMs they were like "WTF?" anyways... heck I doubt they now even remember that.. They became quite stubborn I basically stopped being friends with them. Then yesterday I try and find out what my friend did to his Civic SiR (Si) coupe and he says not much no more (I was wondering since he seemed to have cut the front coils and that would have been sorta smart for a FWD for better energy transfer and traction or so I read), then I tell him about me wanting to get a DSM and I talk a bit he seemed to not know what i was saying, then I mention mitsubishi eclipse GSX, Eagle Talon TSI, Plymouth Laser RS AWD Turbo, etc... and he just leaves... I'm like... wtf. :/ Seriously civic owners are stubborn and become clueless jerks o_O.
