Gave my younger son my old S-10 blazer, suddenly it won't shift unless you let off the gas. Fluid is dark, hasn't been changed in 12 yrs. Think the Tranny's shot? very faint smell of burnt.http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/images/icons/icon5.gif

the fluid should be replaced to help remove the dark burn't fluid... when the fluid is dark it means it's seen too much heat....If you don't have enough pressure it will do as you described....replacing 3x is the best way to slowly get out the old fluid ...don't flush out as this can cause particles to plug up the internals...I use transmedic an additive that helps soften seals and aids in the removal of deposits...this product has worked for me on vehicles that have not been maintained properly and then they start to act up like this one...

I had the cable stick on me and when that happens it will not up shift at all....but just to be sure... see if it is not sticking by pulling on it then releasing...

Where's the cable located? I won't get to it until a few days and also what's the fluid capacity on this vehicle? Thanks Guy:sunglasse
