value S-10 with new motor

I've a 1993 Chevy S-10 pickup with extended cab.
Can't get too much for salvage.
Contemplating putting in a new motor.
Excellent mechanic is willing to rebuild so miles would be 0.
The body is in fair condition, no body damages, paint peeling, clean interior. Oh yeah, it has a camper shell with broken rear window.
My question: if I pay $2000 for the new motor how would I determine the truck's value?

What the book value is and what you believe it's worth will decide the final price. Also, $2000.00 is a bit much for a rebuilt engine.I purchased my 1998 S-10 for 2400.00.
You can find used and rebuilt engines for around 400.00-450.00 around my area.I don't think I would spend 2000.00 on a motor.

s-10 is still high on prices if you look at kelly kkb.com.i have a 91 with the 4 teck.do you have a v-6 in yours? and everyone i see paints comming off and you can see grey primer...

I have a 92 4x4 blazer with a Western snow plow and 200k miles on it that still runs pretty good. I contemplated a rebuilt engine and figured it wasn't worth it. If the engine is still running and taken care of it should last a long time, its another Minnesota winter and I'm still pushing snow. 2000 would have to be a new long block which would still use a lot of your existing parts like fuel delivery and ignition, sensors, and the like so they wouldnt be new and are the cause of most problems. Myself, I stuck with what I have as long as it runs.
