I have a 2002 Monte Carlo and for a while now my Low Tire Pressure light is on. I had my tire pressure checked before and actually got new tires today and it's still on. I know I need to reset it, but both ways it says to do this in the owners manual don't work. I have tried, with the ingnition ON and on ACC both, to turn the parking lights on and off 3 times. That doesn't work. I also tried going through the radio and the option for TIRE MON isn't even there. There isn't anything through the radio to reset it.
I am not sure if something is just wrong with my car or if other people have had this problem.
Please help me reset it!! Thanks so much in advance!

Try unplugging the negative on the battery and leave it off for 3-4 minutes. This should reset the computer, and the light should go away. If it doesn't work then make sure you have the correct amount of air in the tires.

I was told that it is most likely that my anti-lock brake module is bad. The garage cleared the warning light and told me if it comes back on I'll have to replace that. Makes sense because not only was that light always on, but also, at times, my traction control light came on when the tires were not spinning. I guess this module controls low tire pressure, anti-lock braking and traction control...

I had this problem with my 2000 3.4L and couldn't find any way to clear/reset the light through the radio sequence. A friend told me to carefully and very patiently set the tire pressures one by one to the manufacturers figure as given on the sticker on the underside of the trunk hood.
A couple of pressure gauges and some trial and error and the light has cleared itself. Good luck.

I THINK the problem is the anti-lock brake control module (not the EBCM), which supposedly controls the tire pressure monitorig system, anit-lock brake control and traction contol system. Makes sense to me b/c the traction control system comes on periodically, even when it should not (i.e., dry pavement or just accelerating when engine is cold.) I now have the low tire pressure light cleared. If it comes on again, I'll have my mechanic just clear the code. If it gets really frequent and troublesome. I'll have my personal mechanic get a used module and install it on my car (over $1000 for a new one versus $250-$300 for a used one! Thanks!

when resetting the light with the headlight switch, you need to only pull the light switch out 1/2 way (like just turning on the parking lights) do that 3 times fast and it should reset it. If you pull it out all the way it won't work. Good luck and hopefully it won't come on again. Mine comes on quite a bit though and will stay on until I reset it, it won't go off by itself.

I only pulled it 1/2 way out. It is definitely the anti-lock brake control module. Now my "check traction system" message goes on and off...seems to depend on the temp outside (or maybe the moisture). I am going to get it replaced as soon as the warmer weather comes. Thank for your input though!
