02 Rendezvous no high speed on blower

Hi all,
I have an '02 'vous that we bought new and have been very happy with. The problem I'm having is that I have no high speed (5) on the blower, 1-4 work fine. Initially, it would work sometimes and sometimes not, now it does not work at all. I have read about people having only the high speed, but none of the lower speeds and the blower resistor pack was the fix for that. Does anyone know if that might be my problem?
Thanx,
Kevin

Hi,
I have an 05 Rendezvous and the blower doesn't work on the 1st speed. Sometimes it doesn't work on number 2 either. So I know your pain. They said that there was nothing wrong too. :banghead:

I had a 2000 olds alero with the same problem. In the alero it's a common fix to go through. My 02 Rendezvous with 104k has not had this problem yet...knock on wood. I would suspect that it is your blower resistor. It was a cheap ($14) fix in the alero and easy enough that I could do it myself.

Same here, 02 Rendezvous with no high speed on blower. Looked around online to find a resistor and where it is located to replace it, but have had zero luck. Hoping someone will post here that has been able to fix this problem.

If the blower motor resister assembly goes bad, you should be losing first the low speed (1) then one by one the others go away (2-4). In the case of only losing speed 5 I would be more suspect of the HVAC cluster being bad (or having connection issues, try whacking on it to see if it starts working)

Hmm, okay thanks Chameleon, I will try that and check the connections.

We also have an '02 Rendezvous and over a short period of time lost fan speeds 1-3 as well as 5. Now we only have 4 and even that is not working well. I live in Manitoba where as I type this the temp with the windchill is -38. I will be replacing the resistor and hopefully that fixes it.

thanks everyone!

Yesterday my blower would not work at all in my 2003, I turned on the recycled air button and it worked, I got heat. I have not driven today so I don't know if that was a fluke, but that was the first time I had to do that.

ok, so i picked up the resistor...$51 cdn at napa autoparts. I haven't looked too hard, but any idea where it goes? It was dark when I got home, but I looked and could not see anything. :headshake

you need to replace your blower relay, it bypasses the resistor if it is on the highest setting so its not that.

I have fan speed 4 but that's not my biggest worry now - looks like both headgaskets are gone...so right now it's sitting in the driveway.:headshake :banghead:
