Actually, I think it's a rather *smart* looking hatchback . . .

Funny though, it seems as if Alfa Romeo considers it to be a repsonibility of sorts for them to create such aggressive body lines . . . the side of that hatch may as well be the side of a 164 . . .

I actually really like this car. It's slick, aggressive, it's an original design .. that pic doesnt do it justice, it looks much better in the flesh... also, the 2l Cloverleaf version is pretty quick!

cheers

nice car this 145. Alas, the finish was not excellent. It's better on the new Alfas.

The whole reliability is dismal :(

Indeed, what a pity for a so nice car.

this is the no1 thing that pissses me off- all the relable cars are boring as hell.

That being the Germans and Japanese- None of thier cars are particuarly exciting (With the exception of Mazda) but they are reliable :(

Some cars like Peugeot and Renault aren't as reliable- but look awesome though

Stefanel1

Peugeot and Renault are reliable ! My mother has one, none problems, my father too, and he had many French cars, and also a Volvo : he had many problems with the Volvo :D

Jimster
01-11-2003, 11:56 PM
They are reliable- just not as reliable as Nissans or Hondas or Mazdas :(

Hondas are boring, Nissans are ugly and Mazda are IS200 wannabes :(

crayzayjay
01-12-2003, 01:18 PM
er.. BMW's are exciting: all M3's, all M5's.. err... hello?

Stefanel1
01-12-2003, 01:57 PM
Indeed but that's not too bad. It's more reliable than Ford, Chrysler, Fiat, etc. But less than Nissan (oh, it's French after all :D ) or BMW.

Yeah.........but they are done by a tuning house- who are very good at making BMW's fun.

However a 318i isn't exactly that much fun compared to a similarly-prices Honda Accord Type V or Mazda 6.

In fact the 2.5 I6 is the cheapest exciting BMW's come:(

crayzayjay

Cant agree with that, sorry. a 318 pitted against all rep-mobiles, including the much acclaimed Mazda 6 led the way when it came to handling and an entertaining drive. a 318 can easily be seen as nothing compared to a 325 or 330, but when it is compared to its competitors, in terms of driving it is is way ahead. the 6 is a 3-series wannabe, its not a bad attempt but still very far off.

about the tuning house point, even a 320 offers 170bhp and is a lot of fun to drive, whether its an E36 or E46. (E36 is more edgy, sporty handling). 3series is by far the benchmark in terms of driving enjoyment in its class

Stefanel1

I'd prefer a 318 to a Mazda 6 or an honda... I'm according with crayzayjay

01-14-2003, 06:42 PM
me too a bmw 318 its more pretty than mazda 6 and your in a bmw not in a mazda!its like those cars like supras they have all this types of mods and they say:i can kill a diablo i can kill a ferrari but hey youre in a toyota and im in a lambo!:D

Jimster
01-14-2003, 07:24 PM
BMW does hold the driving advantage- but the 1.9 is still gutless- AND priced against the much more responsive and quicker 2.3 VTEC and 2.3 Mazda engine

Also I think the 6 is an IS200 wannabe ;) The cars almost look the same:D

crayzayjay
01-15-2003, 07:27 PM
sure, the base BM is expensive relative to same engine sized rivals, but the buyer is getting a better quality and better designer interior, a more prestigious car and better handling.... that's how pricing any product works, people buy into a brand; BMW happens to make great cars so it works out OK. So does Merc but, for example, someone buying the C Class Coupé, or C Sport, whatever its called, will find the car isnt what it should be for a Merc and therefore grossly overpriced. Nothing in BM's current line-up would make you think that. Unless you want to correct me?

crayzayjay
01-15-2003, 07:28 PM
The 6 is a 3-series wannabe, trust me. They took the 3-series apart when embarking on the project. As do most manufacturers :)

gemballa
01-15-2003, 08:10 PM
is that true that the 3 series will be called 4 series?

Jimster
01-15-2003, 11:07 PM
gemballa- NO The even numbers are for the sports cars (Z2, Z4, Z8, 6 series)

The odd numbers for the sedans and SUVs (3 series, 5 series, 7 series, X5, X3)

crayzayjay
01-16-2003, 08:08 AM
Sedans (4-doors) will be 1,3,5,and 7 series
Coupes (2-door) will be 2,4,6, and 8?? series

i.e. next 3-series coupe will be called 4-series... what i dont know is if the M3 will become M4... i hope not, it just doesnt sound right

gemballa
01-16-2003, 07:25 PM
ohhh:eek: ok!:D

crayzayjay
01-17-2003, 08:24 AM
I dont understand what BMW are up to. They facelifted the 3-sedan and said they wouldnt do the same for the coupé, so that they can have the cars look more and more different before the next coupé comes out as a different model, the 4-series. And now they've introduced the facelifted coupé, which, you guessed it, looks like the revised 3-sedan???!!

crayzayjay

Here's the front:

http://www.bmwinfo.com/1278.jpg

the front air dam is obviously different, as are the headlights... im not so sure about the lights. im waiting for a picture of a sport model with the deeper air dams to see how the new front compares with the old one i loved so much

the back:

http://www.bmwinfo.com/1282.jpg

LED lights that glow brighter when you brake harder, i like.

i read somewhere a new 6 speed gearbox would be introduced for the 330 but i havent seen it since so im not so sure thats true

LOL@Stephanel and crayzayjay :D

crayzayjay
01-25-2003, 02:31 PM
y'a pas le feu au lac! never heard that one before... i know what the words mean, but i dont know what "it" means, if you know what i mean :hehehe:

Stefanel1
01-27-2003, 04:27 AM

Stefanel1
01-27-2003, 02:54 PM
But of course that's not a bad thing. We're making "jokes" on everybody, English, Belgians, Americans, etc. And English, Belgians, Germans, etc. are making jolkes about French.... :D

crayzayjay
01-27-2003, 07:10 PM
