oK I just got my Exedy in last night (UPS really does deliver at all hours) and I was gonna try to tackle that today, but I really am not the most advanced in car maintnance. SO i'm wondering if I can do this myself or should i try to get help or even just take it in.

I think you should find someone to help you first. ITs not all that hard but still i wouldn't mess with it especially when its first time. You'll need the clutch alignment tool also. :)

yeah i have the tool, the clutch kit i bought came with hte plate, disc, two bearings, and the tool. i know i also need a hoist to support the engine, thats what my Chilton says

To support the engine you can just put blocks under it.....thats what I did when I put a new clutch in my old escort.

I'll share my stupid clutch mistake. I got the whole thing done, and then neglected to adjust it. It should have a tiny amount of play, I think 5/16 of an inch, or 7 mm.
Two weeks after the clutch ordeal, I to do it ALL OVER AGAIN!!!! AAargh! Do you know how tired my girlfriend was over giving me rides? She must love me.
So, adjust your clutch when you get done. Takes about 15 seconds.

PS-I've done this procedure before, and I should have known better.

http://www.quickhonda.net/index2.htm

in the links on the left click "garage"....then in the next list "clutch replacement"

after you read that you can click the service manual link and dl the helm's manual. it's for crx....but when it comes to engine crx & civic are the same :)

$114 shipped, its just a basic Exedy, got it off eBay. I'm too poor to get a racing clutch, i just needed something to get me going... Thanks Ami for the site, I have my Chilton's but this page seems to have the same info basically just easier to understand and all... i may tackle this today since my control arm STILL isn't here...

click the garage link then service manual. you can download the whole helm's manual from that site. helm's is the most helpful manual for the 88-91 civic/crx.

it's about a $150 manual in the store!

well i have run out of time i think, plus i made that mistake, i thought too much about it. I'm going to Dallas tomorrow for a wedding, so I think I'm just gonna put the clutch off a bit more, fix the control arm, change out the rims for the steelies b/c the passenger front tire rub so bad on just one part of the tire that the wires are sticking out
