1998 Trooper Serpentine Belt Problem

When I start the AC, the serpentine belt moves back about 1/8" onto the rear rib of the fan pulley. This causes extremely fast wear and shredding of the belt. Is there any way to re-align the AC compressor pulley in order to keep this from happening?
