Intermittent stalling after starting 3.1 TBI

Hey Guys,

I've lurked on here for years now and have never had to make a post because for the most part I've found answers by doing a search. I have one that I've done a search for but haven't found a fix based on what other people have tried. This started a little while ago and has been getting worse and worse. This doesn't happen every time you start it but if it does stall out - it will over and over ( 4 - 5 times )It's just once you start it. It runs for 5 seconds or so then dies out. Once you get the Van running it runs well. I hear the pump prime so I know the pump is fine I also hear the relay click so that's fine. I can keep the Van running if I spray engine start in the TB so I know it's not the Ignition. I had a good look at the schematics with my Pop and we saw that the oil sender switch can cut power to the FP if it's not working so I replaced that. I also had an extra Fuel pressure regulator kicking around so I replaced that to. And for shits and giggles I replaced the PVC valve even though it was probably fine. Not sure where else to go with this. Something is cutting the fuel pressure intermittently but only on start up Never during regular operation.

Thanks for any input guys.

It now stalls when driving so I'm going to do a fuel pressure test. FP may be suspect now but I've always been under the impression that a FP either works or it doesn't. I guess it's possible there is some kind of blockage in that sock. We'll see.......

Well it was the fuel pump. I'm just adding this to aid anyone who has similar problems. To my surprise a fuel pump can have problems intermittently.

Thanks for all the replys ...... :rolleyes
