8-16-08 - I'm editing this three weks after I first posted it.
The DOCH 2.0 requires a intake kit which costs around $250. that has a place to mount the MAFS. Robert said the MAFS is down in the duct before the filter and he is correct. I cleaned it by spraying it with MAFS cleaner, not electrical cleaner, and steady gets 25 MPG town driving so I can't fuss about that. After all, I paid nine grand for it and it's almost like new.
Original post: I wanted to clean the MAFS and upon looking for it I couldn't determine which one it is. Took the rubber duct loose and looked in it and the throttle plate and duct walls look NEW, no crud or buildup on anything.
I was floored when I read about the air filter being good for 100K if the suction indicator isn't in the red, and mine isn't even close to the red.
OK, let's say I get the air filter assembley out with the rubber duct left in place. Will one of these work? http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/ItemBrowse/c-10101/s-10101/p-100000324485/mediaCode-ZX/appId-100000324485/Pr-p_CATENTRY_ID:100000324485
Looks like it will just slide in the duct and clamp it down and I'm good to go. I didn't measure the duct but looks to be 3.5 inch. Along with installing the new filter, what other mods will I have to do? It looks like the MAF and suction tube and other electrical device are all downstream of the Ford filter and I get the impression all I do is clamp in the new filter and I'm ready rock n' roll. (WRONG!)
