Silverado Transmission Question

Could someone give me some information on this transmission? I have Googled this question until I feel like a Google. It was bought for a 1995 Silverado but won't fit. The number on the passenger side stamped near the bottom says 4TAD202J, so I think it fits a 1994. What other years and engine sizes will it fit? Any V-8s or V-6s? I thought somewhere on it would say 4L60E, but it doesn't. There is a very large K on each side though. Also, on the drivers side there is a number that says 8685061. On the passenger side there is a M30 and on both sides there is a 16. All these embossed into the case. I can send pictures to help if anyone wants any. This has really gotten me puzzled. Thanks for any help I receive.

M30 = 4L60E. What did it come out of, a 2WD or 4WD?

I'm not sure what it came out of. I bought it from a transmission re-manufacturing firm for a 1995 Silverado with a 4.3L V-6 engine 2WD but it wouldn't fit. It's a long drawn out story for the reason I still have it. It is completely re-manufactured and if I knew what years and engines it would fit, I would put it on the market and try to recoup at least half my money. Thanks for your interest in my question.

There are two different 4L60Es, so make sure you get the right one! It was around '95 that these overlap. One uses a standard (IIRC) type TCC, the other one has a PWM valvebody. They are not interchangeable.
Later cases are two piece, with the bellhousing bolted on and these generally have '4L60E' cast in the main case. The one piece ones only say M30, but still make sure you get the right one.

You're right on that count. I needed a PWM and the one they sent was not and it wouldn't interchange. Now I still have the above described transmission and can't find out what years or engines it will fit so a perfectly good re-manufactured transmission will probably just lay here and rot down and eventually be sent to the scrap yard. I wound up buying the correct one and the truck runs just fine now. I can't sell this transmission because I can't tell anyone what it will fit. It's my fault, but I have way more into the transmission(s) than what the truck is worth. By the way, on the door jam the sticker says it was built in July 1995.

See? That transmission will probably fit 1993-1994 models no problem. It will probably work on a first year LT1 Caprice.

Thanks for all the help. It is appreciated. I finally found out what all this transmission will fit and have it printed out.
