Hi Everyone,
I have been having this problem with my 98 Grand Prix, 3.8 for about a year now. No one (most garages included) can't seem to find what is wrong. Has anyone ever heard of the tach gauge going to zero while driving and the traction control light coming on all at the same time? The car has 93,000 miles on it..want to keep it as long as I can. It's my baby lol. Anyway, any tips would be completely appreciated!

What shops have you been taking it to? I dont understand how they cannot diagnose this one with the given symptoms?
BTW, its a fairly easy repair and there are detailed instructions in the Tips and Maintenance Subforum.
Only buy an AC Delco crank sensor.

Thanks for all the responses! I have taken it to only one local shop...I really have been putting off taking it to the dealer, for obvious reasons.... Being a woman, sometimes they have a tendency to 'add' a few extra things that need replaced (No offense guys...just the facts lol)
So how easy is it to replace? I have done a few things on my car, but nothing major....

Well, not exactly easy plus special tools are required. To date we never had any feedback from our female members on any DIY work related to this specific component. Just have your mechanic replace it. About two hours labor max if he knows what he is doing and is honest. To give you an idea just review the tech procedure at the link below. Good luck!
