How do you change the upper ball joint oon a 2wd 2001 ranger ???

Moog makes replacement ball joints only for Moog upper cantrol arms.
The upper control arms have two bolts with cams on them. Punch mark each side so you can put them back in the same position. You will need a 1/2 inch socket wrench and I think a 21mm socket. A 13/16 inch will probably work.
Also a 21mm box or combination wrench. Hold the bolt with the box end wrench and loosen the nut with socket. Loosen both sides and get free movement. Loosen the pinch bolt with a box and a combination wrench.
Remove all bolts drive the upper control arm up it should come right off.
Note on jack stands with tire off.
Just because Moog doesn't make one TRW might. If you find a listing you will need to get a loaner ball joint press. Various parts stores loan tools. This is what it looks like http://www.autopart.com/TOOLS/TOOLSMAIN/Tool/T_4000.htm The snap ring pliers needed use search and type in 8850. You should be able to just remove pinch bolt get the ball joint loose. Remove the snap ring and press it out.
