Hey guys!
Searched the forums for code 13 and the only post I found is someone saying they havent heard of a code 13 for the air bag flashes. Airbag light comes on solid for 5-8 seconds when started, then goes off, flashes once, pause, flashes three times pause, and it does this 3-4 times (once, pause, then three times pause) then stays on. 2004 ls v6 32k miles. Checked the yellow plug under the seat and all looks well. Before going further, i wanted to ask if anyone knew what the code 13 is for the airbag light? thanks for your help!

maybe because you are new and haven't helped anyone on the boards is why you aren't getting any help?

Are you kidding me!?! You post at 10 am on a weekday and freak out because no one answers you within an hour!!! Ridiculous.
I'm sure many of the other helpful members also have full time jobs, no of which includes this forum.
As for myself, I've been out of town riding a bicycle across Iowa for the past two days, so checking the forums has not been my number one priority.
As much as I want to ignore you, my helpful side still requires me to answer this. Unfortunately, Lamp Fault Code (LFC) is defined for the 2004 model year Lincoln LS as "Crash Data Memory Full" and the action to take is listed as "Install a new RCM and impact sensors."
Do you know the history of this car? Does it have a salvage title, or has it been in an accident before?

Hey Shorod, thanks for the info. i really appreciate it. I had written a long apology / thanks reply about 2:30am and when i tried to post it said sorry, we are doing maintenance... so i lost all that i had written. in a nutshell i apologized if anyone took it wrong. i was trying to be funny. you've seen those posts on the boards that nobody ever answers for some reason. and after two days i didn't get a response so i thought it was lost in "no-answer land". and tried to make the best of it.. and tried to insert a little humor.
anyway, i really really appreciate your helpful side that compelled you to answer after thinking i was being an a$$hole. and i hope my apology is accepted by you and all.
shorod, when doing my searches, except for the code it was throwing, i was leaning torwards the clockspring or wire under the seat. yes, my son was in a fairly minor front end accident but the airbags did not deploy. sort of submarined an suv, cut in the bumper and messed up the hood. that's when the airbag light came on / stayed on with that flash code at start up. so the one flash, pause, three flashes is an lfc that means i need to install a new rmc and impact sensors? i'll have to do some investigating and find out what an rcm is and what that and impact sensors cost, their location and the difficulty of diy if that is possible. do you know if that is diy possible on these items? since i am getting that code, should the airbags have deployed? thanks for the help now and if forgiven.... in the future!

Since the car has apparently not been in an accident that involved any of the airbags deploying, you may want to consider having the SRS system codes read by a professional scan tool as often they reveal more detail than the LFCs. Sometimes there are multiple detailed SRS codes that get rolled up into one LFC. The diagrams on Alldata don't imply this is the case for LFC 13, but I'd suggest paying to have the codes read professionally over replacing the Restraint Control Module (RCM) and sensors. It seems there should be a way to check the sensors out to determine if any are bad. Unfortunately I'm more comfortable navigating the factory service manual DVDs than I am navigating Alldata, but I only have the Alldata for 2004 model year LS. The Factory Service Manual for 2002 does not offer an LFC of 13.

You could use the dealership for the scan. If you do, be aware that there is
TSB 07-12-3 dated 06/25/07 and titled "RCM FAULT REPORTING USING DTCS AND BIT-MAPPED PARAMETER IDENTIFIERS (PIDS) - SERVICE TIPS" that may apply depending on the scan tool they are using.
If you find an independent with an OTC Genisys, Mac Determinator, or the Cornwell Tools version of the same (I don't remember what it's called) they may have the SRS software to read the manufacturer specific code for the system.
AlldataDIY (http://www.alldatadiy.com) is an online service with an annual fee. I think it's now $25 a year or you can get a multi-year subscription for a reduced annual fee. It is copies of the factory service manual plus full recall and TSB information (not just titles and summary).

This is probably a silly longshot, but will the RCM and clear its memory reset if you disconnect the neg. battery cable for a few minutes?

Wouldn't hurt to try that or to clear the codes from the scan tool if he finds a shop with a scan tool for the SRS system.
