hey guys whats up, recently for about the past 2 months everytime my car shifts it doesnt feel right anymore i wanna say the transmission is slipping, i could be wrong though. but in regards to how the tranny has been acting im thinking of lfushing the tranny. in your opinion should i flush it or just change filter and fluid? and also do you think this would solve the problem?
oh yea its an 02 GA 3.4L and its got about 55xxx miles on it

Get some fluid out and look at it.
If there is a Slippage issue a Trans Flush will only make it worse.Being that the Fresh Fluid will be like putting oil tile floor.
It could also be your shift Solienoids What does it feel like when it shifts and under what conditions?

it happens constantly when i drive now. lol its hard to describe it, wish you could just witness it, lemme put it this way the gear shifts arent as tight as they used to be its more of a stall when it shifts instead of a nice hard shift if that makes sense.

If it's doing it all the time, stop driving it or you'll definately need a new transaxle. It is hard to diagnose a feel or a sound over the internet, so I'd say take it to a tranny shop. Flushing a slipping trans will sometimes "fix" it, about 50% success for me personally. Of course it's still worn, and will eventually wear out, but it may just get you down the road for awhile. It's really just a question of if you want to gamble $200 and possibly delay several thousand dollars of work.

I would drop the pan and replace the fluid and filter. Its that time by GM's scheduled maintenance.
Kinda sounds like what my GT was doing , ended up finding parts n the pan. :eek7:
Good Luck !

Xero, would you recommend doing this myself, ive never actually messed with the tranny before, is it a simple process? Ive tackled the LIM leak myself, so would this be a walk in the park? also what kinda fluid would you suggest? and how many quarts would i need?

If you 've done the LI then this is a walk n the park !
It just a little messy, though if you loosen the pan then work a corner open to drain the fluid into a drain pan its not bad.
I'd also get the rubber gasket w/filter, not the cork gasket.
Its about 7-8 quarts with the pan drain. Just use the GM recomended Dextron . You can use the expensive synthetic trany fluid, several comanies have this, just has to be compatable with Dextron VI and wont hurt to mix the two.
My SE has Castrol Synthetic and it works great. Mobil 1 makes it too just cost more I beleive.
