Yep new problems with project firebird Its a 1987 Firebird with the 5.0 TPI 700R4 trans and before i got the car the engine had been changed and the trans was pulled with the motor so i finished the assembly and at no point in assembly could i find that darn speedo sensor wire so i cut the wire off a diffrent vehicle and made sure it would plug in and i am wondering what wires do i need to tap my new connector into? i am confused any help appreciated thank you
Also on a second thought would me running straignt water without coolant cause my car to over heat? i continually run 220-230 sometimes even over heats due to boiling was thinking the straight water doesnt have a high enough boil point

There should be more than 2 wires. One pair goes to the ECM and the other goes to the speedo.
I have the wiring diagrams for a 91 Formula tucked away some where. If you want I can E mail them to you. The wire colors should be the same.
Straight water shouldn't let it boil over. Check your radiator cap. If it isn't new, get a new 16 lb one. Then look at the radiator and see if the fins are crushed or plugged up with dead bugs and or trash. Clean it all out.

I would GREATLY appreciate the wiring diagram for it my e-mail address is [email protected] And i corrected the overheating issue by bridging the fans to both run at the same time insted of just one and replaced the water with coolant and a new cap so its running good now but my only issue at this point is i have no cruise control nor do i have a speedo (yes i realize the CC runs off the speedo sensor) i am hoping you also have an engine bay wiring diagram because i am just gonna replace the full wiring from the harness to the Speed Sender also i need to figure out which wiring runs from the firewall to the MAT sensor(Manifold Air Temp) because i dont have that pluged in either which i am sure is not helping its running any

Yes, I do believe I have the entire wiring diagrams for the Firebird.
Don't worry too much about the MAT sensor, you have a MAF system and the MAT has very little effect on these.
I'll dig through my archived files (CD's) and find the diagrams.

Was just thinking about it too and is there any particular reason that i would have shitty throttle responce up till about 1/4 throttle? i have received a couple TPS codes in the past

No problem. Took a little to find the info, I have dozens of disks with info on all of my cars and on my bike...took a bit to find the right disk. Sent you 2 E mails with 2 MB of attachments in each one.

no problem.
Your TPS codes could have come from not having a VSS signal. Once you have the VSS working againm if you still have poor throttle response try disconnecting the TPS connector and hook an analog ohm meter across pins A&B on the TPS itself. Then slowly and smoothly open the throttle by hand. The needle on the meter should sweep smoothly across its range. If it stops or stutters at any point it means you have a dead spot in the TPS iteslf and need to replace it.
